Taken in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan in 2018. These pictures show the transformative journey of Afghan girls who, despite facing immense societal barriers, find freedom, joy, and empowerment through skateboarding. Capturing their resilience, determination, and companionship on camera.
The 32 page A5 zine features 36 black and white photographs and an introduction from Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai.
Skateistan is a non-profit organisation that uses skateboarding and education to empower children. Through its innovative programmes, Outreach, Skate and Create, Back-to-School, Dropping In, and Youth Leadership, Skateistan aims to allow children to become leaders in a better world.
